Project Phoenix volunteers, partners, and community members gathered together at the Audubon Center at Debs Park for a morning of birding.

We heard from our Program Director, Dr. Olivia Sanderfoot, who shared the science driving Project Phoenix. We then set out for a bird walk through the nearby trails. The talented Kaija Grahm, a PhD student from the Pinter-Wollman Lab at UCLA, led our bird walk.

Birders observed several species of birds common to the Los Angeles area, including Bushtits, Allen’s Hummingbirds, Common Ravens, and Phainopeplas!
